It's Baltimore, 1962: the '50s are out and change is in the air.
Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion - to dance!
When Tracy wins a spot on the local TV dance programme she is transformed overnight into a teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the programme's reigning princess, win the heart of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do? Only in Hairspray! Welcome to the '60s!
Tracy, along with her large cast of friends and a live band, will be dancing the night away to Hairspray's fabulous 60's inspired score, which includes ‘You Can't Stop the Beat', ‘Welcome to the 60s', ‘Mama I'm a Big Girl Now' and ‘Good Morning Baltimore' and many more.
It's no surprise to hear that the musical has won a rafter of awards including four Olivier Awards (including for Best New Musical), eight Tony Awards (including for Best Musical and Best Original Score), a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album and many more. Now we want you to give it the ultimate accolade of Best Summer Show in Aberystwyth....EVER!
