The first presentation in the 2013 season of talks at Aberystwyth Science Cafe will be given by weather expert John Mason (geologywales.co.uk). At 7:30 pm on 14 January in the Theatre Bar of Aberystwyth Arts Centre, John will discuss at the origins and implications of the extreme environmental event of last summer in mid-Wales, in a talk entitled ’36 hours of weather mayhem: the great rainfall of 2012’
The programme for the spring 2013 season of Aberystwyth Science Cafe will continue with presentations on Quantum computing (18 February), Stonehenge and Yellowstone (4 March), Plants and climate change (8 April) and Biomimetics (27 May). Aberystwyth Science Cafe is an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to meet and chat in an informal environment about the latest ideas in science. All events are free and are held in the Theatre Bar of Aberystwyth Arts Centre, commencing 7:30 pm.
