Daniel Burgarth (IMAPS) - On the nature of randomness: a quantum mechanical perspective.
The subject of the next presentation in the 2013 season of discussions at Aberystwyth Science Cafe will be the concept at the heart of the greatest achievements of modern physics – the Quantum. At 7:30 pm on 18 February in the Theatre Bar of Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Daniel Burgarth of IMP, Aberystwyth University will explore the bizarre world of the quantum, in a talk entitled ‘The nature of chance: a quantum physics perspective’. Come and find out why Heisenberg was uncertain, what the Nobel laureate Niels Bohr meant when he said ‘Anyone not shocked by quantum mechanics has not yet understood it’, and why Schroedinger’s cat was wanted dead and alive.

Aberystwyth Science Cafe is an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to meet and chat in an informal environment about the latest ideas in science.
