Aberystwyth Arts Centre is currently hosting an Artists’ Residency Programme. Artists are based in the studios designed by the award winning Thomas Heatherwick, for a period of 3 months throughout the year. As part of the residency, each artist gives an informal talk about their work.
Edel O’Reilly: “I am a multi-disciplinary artist and curator. I mainly use photography, instillation, sculpture, video and sound as my mediums. I collaborated with Aberystwyth Arts Centre in the Only Connect Exploratory Lab project. My current work is concerned with the real-time, event based projects which are immersive and interactive, allowing the viewer to experience the poetic and ephemeral through the use of technology.”
Tereza Zelenkova: “The photographic medium is for me tightly bound to representing reality, and I often find my practice to be largely influenced by my whereabouts. I often travel as I find it easier to conceive new works while in unfamiliar environments and confronted with new people and places. “
Born in Ostrava, Czech Republic she now lives and works in London, UK.
Jenny Mulcahy: “I live and work on Magnetic Island which is located 8km off the coast from Townsville in north Queensland, Australia.
Ceramics is my passion and the medium I tend to work with the most. I enjoy incorporating print-making techniques and found objects into my work which mostly focuses on environmental and social justice issues.
