In these sessions we will focus on tonal work, particularly high contrasts of light & dark in the form of dramatic chiaroscuro. We will employ a range of mediums including pencil, charcoal, black conte crayon, and pastel. Because of the winter the light conditions will be ideal for this type of approach!
Our models will include trained dancers and experienced male and female models working both singly and also together in pairs. All the materials will be provided but please don't let this stop you bringing along your own equipment.
To make best use of the space, places are limited to 14, so please book soon to avoid disappointment. The fee for the weekend is £80 but there is an early bird discount of £65 if you book before the 18th November. There is also a concessional fee of £75 which you may be entitled to.
If you plan to arrive by train please note the journey times for Saturday and Sunday. Visit http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk for more information. However, a train arrives in Aberystwyth at 11.20 and 12.20 in the mornings on Saturdays and you can get a taxi from here up the hill to the Arts Centre if you would prefer. On Sundays, arrivals are less frequent but the first train gets in at 11.10 which would give you plenty of time. If you plan to spend the night and need help looking for accommodation you could contact the aberystwyth tourist information centre:
If you are not from Aberystwyth or you are unfamiliar with it, it is worth noting that the arts centre is worth a visit in itself and contains a theatre, dance studios, a cinema, cafe and bar, and it is only a short (though steep) walk from the sea. Remember it will be winter though so dress appropriately.
