This year the global international music event WOMEX 13 will take place in Cardiff from 23 - 27 October. The Gorwelion - Horizons Wales-wide tour will take leading international WOMEX 13 showcasing artists and pair them up with top Wales based musicians or groups for a sensational performance of world music from leading international and Wales based exponents. This tour is a part of the WOMEX 13 Legacy programme led by Cerdd Cymru: Music Wales. It aims to bring the best in global music to audiences across the nation, ensuring that WOMEX 13 is an all-Wales event.
Tour 3 will be performed at Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Sunday 27 October. Tour 3 features Les Tambours de Brazza (Republic of the Congo) with support from 9Bach (Wales).
Amazing things happen when the 10-member Les Tambours de Brazza takes the stage. This spectacular, choreographed percussion band from Central Africa blends tradition and modernity, playing large Ngoma drums alongside drum set, bass, guitars and voice, and passing on a universal message of peace, freedom and brotherhood. A thunderous show that’s a joy to watch as these men smile, dance and tear into their skins with verve.
After spending most of the year in the recording studio, between visits to Toronto, the Isle of Man, and France, to play festivals, 9Bach are ready to hit the road and start playing the new songs from their 2nd album Tincian which is due to be released early next year. As well as developing the sound from their first album 9Bach, Tincian see’s the band performing original material written by the band’s lead singer Lisa Jên “We’re really looking forward to be getting out on the road and playing these new songs for the first time, as we’ve been working hard on them for the past 9 months, and it will be great to get them to come to life by playing them live, after so much time in the studio”
“it has been a fantastic year recording Tincian and also taking the songs from the first album to some overseas countries for the first time, but it will be special to be playing these new songs at home in Wales, directly after playing at WOMEX in Cardiff.”
