All Queered Up: Celebrating LGBT History Month
An exciting evening of talks, discussion and music including:
A conversation with the writer and women’s rights campaigner Frances Power Cobbe and her lifelong partner, the sculptor Mary Charlotte Lloyd, who lived together near Dolgellau. Buried a century ago in the churchyard at Llanelltyd, they speak tonight from beyond the grave. Presented by Jane Hoy and Helen Sandler.
Talk and slideshow by Aberystwyth University’s Colin Cruise about gay art history.
An introduction to author Amy Dillwyn by Kirsti Bohata of Swansea University, taking in the dry humour and intense emotional life of this woman-loving, cigar-smoking novelist, diarist and industrialist.
The evening is chaired by historian Norena Shopland, who will get us all talking about the LGBT lives of the past.
Plus live music from Stephanie Finegan: singer-songwriter, poet, force of nature.
Aberration is brought to you by Enfys Aber and SpringOut, in partnership with Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
Event in English.
