Join award winning landscape photographer Nicholas White as he discusses his latest project, Black Dots, which is featured in the IPE 160 exhibition on display now at Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
Published by Another Place Press in early 2018, Black Dots, is a three-year exploration of mountain bothies (secluded mountain shelters) scattered across the British Isles, most of which are accessible only on foot. It also examines bothy culture and the growing community of bothy-users and volunteers who tirelessly maintain them.
Nicholas will also talk us thorough the development of his photographic work after his first-class BA in Photography from Plymouth College of Art, his use of medium and large format photography and offer an insight into his new project funded by the RPS Environmental Bursary which takes him to the Carpathian Mountains in Romania.
Winner of numerous other awards including Lens Culture Emerging Talent and Magenta Foundation Flash Forward in 2017, Night Contact at Brighton Photo Biennial in 2014, FotoNow South West Graduate Photography Prize and Magnum Photos Showcase in 2013. Nicholas’ work has also been featured in the RPS Journal, BJP, VICE, Creative Boom and many more, and he has exhibited in exhibitions across the UK, with work from the Black Dots series showing in New York this coming month. This is a talk not to be missed!
