"What have I done for you,England, my England? What is there I would not do,England, my own?"William Ernest Henley
Chris Steele-Perkins is a renowned British Magnum photographer, who moved to London from Rangoon with his family in 1949. He started work as a freelance photographer in London in the early 1970s and is well known for his work in countries including Africa, Afghanistan and Japan. For this exhibition he presents a personal view of what makes England truly English: from Sunday cricket matches to intimate family portraits, from Saturday night dancing to race riots. Each picture tells a story of a time and a place and is drawn from the body of work he has created over forty years: ‘ an honest testament to an odd but magnificent country'
