Your favourite artworks from Wales’ national collection
Wales’ national art collection belongs to everyone, but only a small number of people have been empowered to make decisions about what is collected and how it is shown. Is this fair?
While National Museum Cardiff’s galleries were closed in 2020 due to the Covid -19 pandemic, curators from Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales selected 100 artworks to be shared digitally via Instagram @celfarycyd. The public were asked to vote for their favourite artworks from the collection using the ‘like’ button. This helped produce a shortlist of artworks.
Now a selection of the most popular artworks is touring to galleries across Wales. From neolithic stone carving to the most recent contemporary art, ceramics and photography, the selection reflects the rich diversity and experience of life in Wales.
The exhibition will also tour to
Y Gaer, Brecon - 9 July – 30 October 2022
Oriel Ynys Môn - 11 February – 14 May 2023
