Elise Simard - Quebec (September-November 2012)

Elise Simard’s films often spring from a single sentence and an image. Mixing experimental and traditional animation techniques, she looks to create mystical pathways to help my characters bridge the ordinary and the sublime. She loves to work with light, photographic filters and distortion lenses, and to experiment with low-fidelity reproduction and recording processes (such as cyanotypes and pinhole photography). Elise’s work is atmospheric and open-ended, an exploration of sentimental dispositions.
