In My Blood It Runs is a powerful story of hope and a reminder of the strength of First Nations people, their families, and communities. When 10-yr-old Dujuan cannot run nor fight alone, he discovers the resilience and resistance of many generations of his people and faces the history that runs straight into him.
Following a World Premiere at Hot Docs 2019 & successful festival run, the film and wider campaign of In My Blood It Runs has had a tremendous impact across Australia. In a year that has raised so many questions about how we understand colonial history, this documentary inspires vital discussions surrounding race within the education system and the criminalisation of young people of colour.
Director: Maya Newell (Gayby Baby). 84 minutes.
