A perfect pastiche of Classical Hollywood, Mel Brooks draws together the clichés and conventions of the Universal horror movies of the 1930s and revives them with the silliest of jokes and magnificent performances by some of the best comedians of the time.
Young Frederick Frankenstein is led to his ancestral home and can’t resist taking up the family custom of reanimating corpses, aided by his laboratory assistant Inga, and Igor, the family retainer. Maintaining the design of the 1930s films, Brooks pays tribute to the horror tradition, but adds his own voice with the performances of Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn, and a small, but highly memorable, musical number.
