Aberystwyth Arts Centre Community Theatre
The talented performers of the Arts Centre's Community Theatre, under the direction of Richard Cheshire, present Arthur Miller's classic parable of mass hysteria. Miller used the Salem witch-hunt of 1692 to draw a chilling parallel with the McCarthyism which gripped America in the 1950s, and the play continues to raise questions about the society in which we live right up the current day. As the small community of Salem is stirred into madness by superstition, paranoia and malice, Miller's text presents a savage attack on the evils of mindless persecution and the terrifying power of false accusations.
