Tim van Eyken Band
Tim van Eyken has come a long way since winning the 1998 BBC Young Folk Award to breaking new ground with Dr Faustus and touring the world with Waterson:Carthy. The experience has not only honed his instrumental skills, but seen Tim develop into one of the most assured and captivating singers around.
In 2006 Tim released his second album, ‘Stiffs, Lovers, Holymen, Thieves' which was acclaimed everywhere from The Times to The Sun. Tim and his band Van Eyken were subsequently nominated for 4 BBC Folk Awards and collected the Best Traditional Song award for ‘Barleycorn'. Headline festival shows and successful UK tours followed firmly establishing Tim as a leading light in the UK's thriving folk scene.
Tim has recently taken a giant leap into the world of theatre by landing the part of ‘Songman' in the National Theatre's production of ‘Warhorse' with music written by John Tams. The five month run at the South Bank sees him realise a long and secretly held ambition to work in theatre and making his debut somewhere as prestigious as the National is certainly a dream come true.
Tim returns to the live scene this Spring with a line-up that features the considerable talents of Robert Harbron on guitar (Dr Faustus and English Acoustic Collective), Colin Fletcher on bass (Van Eyken) and Pete Flood on percussion (Bellowhead and Van Eyken).
