The Rare One

We know ... It's been too long! Well fear not, for the wait is over - on Saturday 20^th February, The Rare One is back! To help you blow out the New Wear cobwebs with aplomb is none other than the Godfather of Drum & Bass - DJ HYPE. If that wasn't enough, the incredible LOOSE CANNONS are on hand to lend support in what promises to be a night like no other.

DJ HYPE - a man who is to Drum & Bass what Afrika Bambaata is to Hip-Hop. As founder of the genre-defining Ganja Records and Tru Playerz Recordings, last year saw him presented with the prestigious Stevie Hyper D Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Drum & Bass Awards in recognition of his long-standing contribution to the scene.

THE LOOSE CANNONS have rocked parties across the world, from student parties in NYC to Manumission, Exit, Snowbombing, Glastonbury and Bestival... even the wedding of The Prodigy's Keith Flint! In the UK, they host a Sony award-winning show on Kiss 100. Amongst it all they've even found time to remix the likes of Roisin Murphy, Justice and Kissy Sell Out.

Support comes in the form of Machynlleth 4-piece CARTOON VIOLENCE, whose sound is an insanely catchy affair that mixes super bouncy 2 tone Ska with distinctly British sounding pop & indie stylings. Also performing are SMOKE LIKE A FISH. Expect a turbo-charged Ska attack behind brass-splattered riffs, catchy choruses and even a bit of social comment thrown in for good measure. Topping off a stellar live bill are Aberystwyth 7-piece SILVER ROCKET CLUB - the "most exciting and provocative musical act to emerge from Mid-Wales since the Welsh space program began in 1972".

Following its success last time out, The Secret Disco returns with a headline set from London-based Tech House don FORMLESS, who has gained worldwide acclaim for his releases on Minimal Kidz Records and Polished Audio. More recently you could have caught him DJing at The Cross, Turnmills, Pacha, Glade, The Secret Garden Party and the mighty Glastonbury.

Cementing the night together across all three stages are The Rare One residents Neil & David Soul, Matt Byers, The Beat Keepers feat. Lion MC & MC Benji, Deadlock & Imposta, DJ Ether and Ben Hunt.

As usual you can expect another mind-blowing delight for the eyes and ears - and once again the party continues till 4am!
