ZU2

To see U2 live is an unbeatable experience. To see ZU2 live is the next best thing to the real thing!

U2 is among the biggest rock bands in the world today and has maintained a high level of popularity since the late 1980's. With sales of approximately 50.5 million albums in the U.S. and over 150 million albums worldwide, six No.1 albums in the US and nine No.1 albums in the United Kingdom, it is no wonder that they are widely considered one of the most successful groups of all time. With this in mind it would seem impossible to emulate the unique sound of U2. Until now!

Aside from their consummate skill as performers, ZU2's complete regard for U2 has established them as Europe's most authentic U2 tribute band, playing in surroundings where the original U2 have never been seen. It is hard to take your eyes off the stage whilst singing along to all the infamous U2 classics. A must for U2 fans!

What The Paper's Say about the current ZU2 UK Tour:

Even better than the real thing? Close call...

U2 may have The Edge, but ZU2's guitarist Richard Ashford replicates the wooly-hatted one's soaring, shimmering and fluid style to a tee. His brother Russell is Bono's doppelganger, and has perfectly captured his holiness's throaty rasp and effortless falsetto. Setting a new standard in the art of tributry, ZU2 somehow, amazingly, created the pulse-quickening drama and excitement of  a massive stadium show within the genteel splendour of The Kings Theatre, Southsea. And that is precisely where they score over the originals. I once saw U2 live at the old Wembley stadium, and all I can remember is having to jump up and down to catch the odd glimpse of Bono and the boys doing their stuff seemingly miles away. With blinding lights raking the auditorium and the sound that was unmistakably pure U2, the audience was treated to a plethora of hits, starting with the blistering Vertigo and ending with the majestic I still haven't found what I'm Looking For. These men, including drummer Jamie Richardson and bassist Gareth Jenkinson, are consummate musicians, and developed great warmth and empathy with the enthusiastic crowd. Highlights included Where The Streets Have No Name, Sunday Bloody Sunday, and a few tracks requested by the audience at half time, including the blissful Angel of Harlem. They promised to come back again next year, and I would urge anyone who likes U2 to see them. Never mind a quiet night in - treat youself to a loud night out.   Alan Cooper, Deputy Chief Sub Editor, The News Portsmouth.
