The Last Goodbye - The Rescue of children from Nazi Europe
To accompany the Arts Centre’s theatre production on the subject, this exhibition tells the moving story of 10,000 unaccompanied children who came to Britain with ‘Kindertransport’ - the name given to the evacuation of mainly Jewish children from Germany, Austria, Poland and Czechoslovakia to safety in Great Britain before war was declared in September 1939. The exhibition raises many issues including social prejudice, racism and also indifference.
