Exhibitions - Arddangosfeydd

00 Dec Rha - 12 Jan Ion

An exhibition of artists’ prints – but on a small scale! None of the works exceeds 100cm in either dimension, and many variations of print making techniques are represented. The open submission originally attracted over 700 entries, from throughout the UK as well as mainland Europe, Canada and New Zealand. 150 works have been selected - from traditional etching to new digital work- and demonstrate the creative talent that exists within contemporary printmaking today.

The exhibition provides a fascinating insight into the fashions and innovations in contemporary printmaking practice. In terms of process and of technique, this show includes nearly everything - for there is always another ‘new’ technique on the end of every printmaker’s press. From the most traditional wood-engraving to the integral limited digital print – from stone to waterless lithography – from rubber stamps to copper engraving, this provides a technical feast of investigation for the viewer and maker alike. And as Sarah Kirby of Leicester Print workshop has commented: “The scale invites an intimacy of observation – a different pace of looking which in turn begins to build a relationship with the work on show. “

Arddangosfa o brintiau artistiaid - ond ar raddfa fach! Mae’r gwaith i gyd yn llai na 100cm mewn dimensiwn a chynrychiolir llawer o wahanol dechnegau o wneud printiau. Dewiswyd 150 o weithiau allan o’r 700 a dderbyniwyd yn wreiddiol, yn amrywio o ysgythru traddodiadol i’r gwaith digidol diweddaraf - a gwelir yn glir y dalent greadigol sy’n bodoli ym maes gwneuthur printiau heddiw.
