Exhibitions - Arddangosfeydd

Catrin Webster has been studying the experience of landscape in paint for many years. This exhibition will include paintings and drawings, many of them large canvases painted during her travels, which extend her interpretation of seeing the natural and built environment. She has also used recordings of travelling to stimulate an immediate act of drawing, in effect giving the story of a journey on one surface of paper. Intensely personal and immediate, full of colour and gesture, this new work encourages the viewer to experience landscape in a transformed way. The exhibition will also show the results of work Catrin has been making with school students in Aberystwyth and Birmingham in the Travel Project, where children have followed the artist’s thinking and methods of working to produce their own work on their train journeys between Aberystwyth and Birmingham. Bu Catrin Webster yn ymddiddori mewn tirluniau ers blynyddoedd. Bydd yr arddangosfa hon yn cynnwys paentiadau a lluniau eraill, llawer ohonynt yn ganfasau mawr a baentiodd ar ei theithiau, sy’n cyfleu ei dehongliad hi o weld yr amgylchedd naturiol ac adeiledig. Mae wedi recordio sylwadau ar ei theithiau i’w hysgogi wrth ddarlunio, gan adrodd hanes taith ar un papur. Mae’r gwaith newydd hwn yn bersonol iawn ac yn agos-atoch, yn llawn lliw ac ystum, gan annog y gwyliwr i gael profiad hollol newydd o’r dirwedd. Yn ogystal, bydd yr arddangosfa’n dangos cynnyrch gwaith Catrin gyda disgyblion ysgol o Aberystwyth a Birmingham yn y Prosiect Teithio, lle bu’r plant yn dilyn ffordd yr artist o feddwl a’i dulliau o weithio er mwyn gwneud eu gwaith eu hunain ar deithiau rhwng Aberystwyth a Birmingham.
