Writing reviews can be a useful way to earn money from your writing and to raise your profile as an author. But what makes for a good review? And how do you go about getting started? The session will explore making pitches to editors, writing samples, different reviews for different audiences, as well as publications and organisations to approach. It will focus on writing book reviews but the material will be applicable to reviewing live events, albums, computer games, magazines, film and television.
Katherine Stansfield has reviewed fiction and poetry for Poetry Wales, New Welsh Review, Planet and the Magma blog. Her novel The Visitor was published by Parthian in 2013, and her first collection of poems, Playing House, came out with Seren in 2014. Please note, the venue for this workshop has been changed to Brynamlwg which is situated to the right of Aberystwyth Arts Centre next to the Creative Units (and Honno's main office).
