A new series of gigs showcasing the very best from the Welsh music scene. We are very pleased to be working with Aberystwyth Arts Centre and the Welsh Language Society to stage regular Welsh gigs in Aberystwyth, and to offer a mentoring scheme to young promoters in the area.
Alternative electro night at Arts Centre
Cardiff-based 'dream pop' artist, Carw, and Aberystwyth's own electronic combo Roughion will be the main attractions of the latest ‘O’r Selar’ gig at Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Thursday 27th November.
The gig is the latest to be promoted under the banner of contemporary music magazine, Y Selar, at the venue over this Autumn.
Carw is the solo project of Violas frontman, Owain Griffiths, whose sounds have received much acclaim since starting to release his music online at the tail end of 2012. He has also appeared on S4C music programme ‘Ochr 1’ earlier on this year.
Aberystwyth DJ, Gwion Llyr, and producer Steffan Woodruff have teamed up to form Roughion earlier on this year. Their electronic twist on some of Wales’ traditional folk songs is sure to turn some heads, and have received some airplay on Radio Cymru recently.
“We’re treating this gig as kind of a showcase event for the Welsh electronic scene that’s really strong at the moment” said Y Selar Chief Editor, Owain Schiavone.
“It’s an opportunity to see some really good up and coming acts, and listen to some great experimental electronic music by them. We can’t wait.”
