David Hurn: A Welsh Life / Bywyd Cymreig
Magnum photographer David Hurn is well known for his portraits of many famous 60’s icons, including Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood, Ursula Andress and more. Born in England but Welsh by blood David’s latest images are about discovering his own place in Wales and exploring contacts with his fellow Welsh. This new body of work features images from recent publications ‘Land of My Fathers’ and ‘Living in Wales’ and will include a section of new works about the landscape of Wales.
Hire fee: £1000 plus one way transport and insurance.
This exhibition is available to hire from January 2008
Mae’r ffotograffydd Magnum David Hurn yn adnabyddus am ei bortreadau o lawer iawn o eiconau enwog y 1960au gan gynnwys Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood, Ursula Andress ac eraill. Wedi’i eni yn Lloegr ond o dras Gymreig, mae delweddau diweddaraf David yn ymwneud a darganfod ei le ei hun yng Nghymru ac archwilio cysylltiadau a ’i gyd-Gymry. Mae’r casgliad newydd hwn yn cynnwys delweddau o gyhoeddiadau diweddar, ‘Land of My Fathers’ a ‘Living in Wales’ a bydd yn cynnwys adran o waith newydd ar dirwedd Cymru.
Y Ffi Logi yw £1000 ynghyd â chludiant unffordd ac yswiriant.

Pete Davis: Wildwood
Pete Davis, a Senior Lecturer in photography at the University of Wales Newport, has become renowned for his mastery of large format photography and for the fine printing of his. He has exhibited his large format work landscape widely in the UK, Ireland and Europe, and is represented in many important collections including the Museo Genna Maria - Sardinia, Arts Council of Wales, National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth University, Museum of Modern Art Wales, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Part of this exhibition was selected to represent Welsh visual art at the Festival Interceltique in Lorient, Brittany, 2002, and some images were shown in a one-person show at the Feick Arts Center, Vermont, USA in October 2004.In the new work in this exhibition, Pete Davis encapsulates many of the elements of the wider landscape that have featured in his work over the years. Beauty, mystery, myth, spirituality and history are all represented here - all significant aspects of the untamed landscape.
The work is split into two collections:
25 images approx 18x22” with an additional 8 large space prints approx 4ft x 3ft (optional) curated to suit a space of 120sq meters. Hire fee £500 plus one way transport and insurance. Available to hire from April to Dec 2007 and them from February 2008.
40 large scale images approx 4ftx3ft curated to suit a space of 240sq meters. Hire fee £1000 plus one way transport and insurance. Available from May 2008
Uwch-ddarlithydd yw Pete Davis mewn ffotograffiaeth ym Mhrifysgol Cymru Casnewydd ac mae wedi dod yn enwog am ei feistrolaeth ar ffotograffiaeth fformat mawr a’i argraffu cain. Mae wedi arddangos ei waith tirluniol graddfa fawr yn eang yn y DU, Iwerddon ac Ewrop ac fe’i cynrychiolir mewn llawer iawn o gasgliadau pwysig gan gynnwys y Museo Genna-Maria, Sardinia, Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru, Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru, Prifysgol Cymru Aberystwyth, Amgueddfa Celf Fodern Cymru ac Amgueddfa Victorir ac Albert Llundain. Dewiswyd rhan o’r arddangosfa hon i gynrychioli celf weledol Cymru yn y Festival Interceltique yn Lorient, Llydaw, 2002, a dangoswyd rhai delweddau mewn sioe undyn yng Nghanolfan y Celfyddydau Feick, Vermont, UDA ym mis Hydref 2004. Yn y gwaith newydd yn yr arddangosfa hon, mae Pete Davis yn ymgorffori llawer iawn o’r elfennau a geir yn y dirwedd ehangach a fu’n nodwedd yn ei waith dros y blynyddoedd. Mae harddwch, dirgelwch, myth, ysbrydolrwydd a hanes i gyd yn cael eu cynrychioli yma – pob un yn nodweddion o dirwedd sydd heb ei dofi.
Mae’r gwaith yn ymrannu’n ddau gasgliad:

Mae James Morris wedi teithio’n eang yng Ngorllewin Affrica ac wedi ffotograffu’r pensaerniaeth adobe yn amrywio o’r Friday mosque yn Djenne - yr adeilad mwd mwyaf yn y byd - i dai bychain mewn cymunedau anghysbell. Mae ei ffotograffiaeth yn dangos adeiladau mwd anhygoel Gorllewin Affrica fel trysorau esthetig yn ogystal a strwythurau gyda pherthnasedd cyfoes.
Mae’r arddangosfa yn cynnwys 33 o ffotograffau ar raddfa fawr.

Tim Davies
One of 10 artists from around the world nominated for the inaugural Artes Mundi award. The inspiration for this new work comes from war memorials within the UK, and postcards of these memorials dating back up to 10 years.This work, which considers the public commemoration of deaths by war, is the third element in a series and is in the initial stages of being created.The exhibition will also include some filmed work. If a gallery can declare an interest early enough, Tim Davies can make pieces specifically for one or two venues, using a monument local to them.

Un o’r artistiaid o bedwar ban byd a enwebwyd ar gyfer y wobr Artes Mundi gyntaf. Daw’r ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer y gwaith newydd hwn o gofebion rhyfel yn y DU a chardiau post sy’n dangos y cofebion hyn sy’n dyddio yn ôl hyd at 10 mlynedd. Y gwaith hwn, sy’n ystyried y ffordd mae’r cyhoedd yn coffáu marwolaeth yn sgil rhyfel, yw’r drydedd elfen mewn cyfres mae Tim wrthi yng nghyfnodau cynnar ei chreu ar hyn o bryd. Bydd yr arddangosfa hefyd yn cynnwys peth gwaith ar ffilm. Os gall oriel fynegi’i diddordeb yn ddigon buan, gall Tim wneud darnau’n benodol ar gyfer un neu ddwy o ganolfannau gan ddefnyddio cofebion sy’n lleol iddynt.
Bydd yr arddangosfa hon ar gael o fis Mehefin 2007.

The Pot, the Vessel, the Object
Craft Potters Association
Established in 1958, the Craft Potters Association is the national body representing ceramic artists in the UK. Its aim is to advance and encourage the creation of fine works in ceramics, to foster and extend the interests of the public in such objects, and to promote their value in society.
Celebrating 50 years of the Craft Potters Association The Pot, the Vessel and the Object draws together new and established members of the CPA in this major new exhibition.
The show includes a range of pottery from domestic ware (the pot) to abstract (the vessel) and sculptural pieces (the object) and features ceramists such as Jack Doherty, Felicity Aylieff, Sandy Brown, Walter Keeler and Phil Rogers.
The majority of the exhibition will show new work by the maker, but some archive pieces are on display, for historical value, to show how far ceramics has come over the past fifty years.

Cymdeithas y Crochenwyr Crefft
Wedi’i sefydlu ym 1958, Cymdeithas y Crochenwyr Crefft yw’r corff cenedlaethol sy’n cynrychioli artistiaid cerameg yn y DU. Ei amcan yw hyrwyddo ac annog creu gweithiau cain mewn cerameg, meithrin ac ymestyn diddordeb y cyhoedd mewn gwrthrychau o’r fath ac i hyrwyddo eu gwerth yn ein cymdeithas.
Gan ddathlu 50 mlynedd o Gymdeithas y Crochenwyr Crefft, mae The Pot, the Vessel and the Object yn dwyn at ei gilydd aelodau newydd a sefydledig y Gymdeithas yn yr arddangosfa bwysig newydd hon.
Mae’r sioe yn cynnwys amrywiaeth o grochenwaith rhwng llestri i’r cartref (y pot) a’r haniaethol (y llestr (vessel)) a darnau cerfluniol (y gwrthrych) ac mae’n cynnwys ceramegwyr megis Jack Doherty, Felicity Aylieff, Sandy Brown, Walter Keeler a Phil Rogers.
Bydd y rhan fwyaf o’r arddangosfa’n dangos gwaith newydd gan y gwneuthurydd, ond bydd rhai darnau archifol i’w gweld hefyd er mwyn eu gwerth hanesyddol, i ddangos pa mor bell mae cerameg wedi dod dros yr hanner can mlynedd diwethaf.
