Teachers' Notes
Downloadable teachers’ notes / packs will be available with the exhibition ‘Through other Eyes Drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs and films by emerging artists from Pakistan and India’ this term. These notes should provide sufficient information / project ideas and themes for teachers to bring children to the gallery themselves. If rooms are free, we are happy to allow use of our workshops for follow up work while still at the Arts Centre - please contact Rachel Scurlock on 01970 622888, rls@aber.ac.uk to check room availability.

Gallery talk from curator Indra Khanna on the work of influential South African photographer Santu Mofokeng for secondary pupils and college students.
Anerchiad yn yr Oriel gan y curadur Indra Khanna ar waith y ffotograffyd dylanwadol o Dde Affrica Santu Mofokeng. Yn addas ar gyfer disgyblion ysgol uwchradd a myfyrwyr coleg.
Gallery education workshops in conjunction with ‘Winter Garden: The Micropop Imagination in Contemporary Japanese Art’ - an exhibition of drawings, paintings and video works by 14 Japanese artists described as working in the ‘Micropop’ tendency -
a significant trend amongst younger Japanese artists.

‘Arts for All’ Sessions
These shorter sessions funded through our Taking Part grant are specifically designed for Key Stage 1 children, and work with the Arts Centre exhibition programme.

Art Days for Schools
These offer individual schools the chance to bring up to 100 children to the Arts Centre to take part in a variety of activities such as art, pottery, banner making, photography, drama,
samba drumming, writing etc. All the activities are taught by professional artists.
Dyddiau Celf i Ysgolion
Cynigir cyfle i ysgolion unigol i ddod â hyd at 100 o blant i’r Ganolfan i gymryd rhan mewn amrywiaeth o weithgareddau megis celf, crochenwaith, creu baneri, ffotograffiaeth, drama, drymio samba, ysgrifennu etc. Dysgir yr holl weithgareddau gan artistiaid proffesiynol.
Ceramics Sessions
Pupils spend half the day in the Gallery, making drawings and learning how pots are made, then half a day in the Ceramics Workshop designing and making a piece of work out of clay. This term we will work with both the University Ceramics collection and the exhibition ‘New
Work by Sutton Taylor’. Run in conjunction with the University Ceramics collection.

Mae'r disgyblion yn treulio hanner y diwrnod yn yr Oriel, yn gwneud arluniadau ac yn dysgu sut mae potiau yn cael eu gwneud, wedyn hanner diwrnod yn y Gweithdy Serameg yn dylunio ac yn gwneud darn o waith allan o glai. Y tymor hwn byddwn yn gweithio gyda chasgliad Serameg y Brifysgol yn ogystal â'r arddangosfa ‘Gwaith Newydd gan Sutton Taylor’. Trefnir mewn cydweithrediad â chasgliad Serameg y Brifysgol.

Set Text Shakespeare
A day longworkshopworking on set text GCSE and A -Level Shakespeare texts designed to
cater for individual school requirements. Led by Bold Productions Artistic Director Richard Hull, studentswill be involved in a day long workshop paying particular attention to the specific areas of study as required by each individual school. Theseworkshops can be both practical and analytical so are an excellent addition to the studies of English or Theatre Studies students.
Testun Gosod Shakespeare
Gweithdy amddiwrnod llawn yn gweithio ar destunau gosod Shakespeare ar gyfer TGAU a Lefel A. Bydd y gweithdai yn ymateb I ofynion ysgolion unigol. Gyda Chyfarwyddwr Artistig Bold Productions Richard Hull yn arwain, rhoddir pwyslais arbennig ar feysydd astudiaeth penodol. Gall y gweithdai hyn fod yn ymarferol neu’n ddadansoddol fellymaent yn ychwanegiad rhagorol at waithmyfyrwyr Saesneg neu Astudiaethau Theatr.
GCSE & A-LEVEL Set Texts
A day long workshop working on set text GCSE and A -Level English and A Level theatre texts designed to cater for individual school requirements. Led by Bold Productions

These workshops can be both practical and analytical so are an excellent addition to the studies of English or Theatre Studies students.
Acting Workshops
A practical workshop led by Bold Productions actress Andrea Edwards looking at acting skills and performance. These workshops are suitable for all students of Drama aged 12+, and focus on the foundation skills required by young actors. Students will use a selected script as a catalyst for this highly creative workshop, and examine acting objective, characterisation, focus and concentration and vocal work. £110 a day - early bird discount - £50 for the first two days booked by any local school.

A free session for theatre studies students with Arts Centre creative and technical staff to explain how theatre works both front and backstage. Contact us to arrange a visit.
Young Critical Writers’ Scheme
We are pleased to be working with sixth form students to help develop their critical writing skills and offer them the opportunity to view and review at the Arts Centre. We will be visiting schools in the autumn with a free review writing workshop and to recruit young reviewers for the scheme.
