The Golden Age of Iranian Cinema & Nowruz Iranian New Year Celebration
Films, Persian Food, Speakers & Debate
We've a special focus on Iran this year, in a season of magical, moving films from a generation of post-revolutionary Iranian filmmakers who won prizes at festivals across the world. While revealing social changes in Iran to Western audiences, these films are visually striking, rich in symbolism and full of wonder. The hugely influential Iranian neorealist style that emerged has since had an enduring legacy world wide.
The season starts with a day of films, debate and Persian food to celebrate ‘Nowruz’, Persian New Year, on Saturday 21 March. Deeply rooted in Zoroastrian traditions, Nowruz, meaning "New Day”, has been celebrated for at least 3,000 years to mark the start of Spring.
Come and celebrate with WOW's special offer of £20 (£15 concessions) for a whole day of films and speakers.
WOW Film Festival is celebrating the golden age of Iranian cinema in partnership with British Council Iran as part of their UK-Iran Season of Culture.
